Thanks for the comments Joe. I've attached the uncropped image. I think the item you are referring to is just a banged up piece of metal, perhaps an old paint can lying on its side with the bottom ripped open. If I zoom in, I can see the spot where the bail would attach to the can, and it looks like a can "double seam" at the top and bottom. |

The colors, lighting and exposure work well together. For me, these types of architectural images have the most impact when composed and cropped to emphasize the symmetry. The image doesn't appear to be quite level (the columns on the right are near vertical while those on the left lean inward) and the left/right cropping doesn't match. The picture does not appear to have been taken in the exact center of the church. It may not have been possible to do that, but if it was the symmetry would have been further emphasized - for example the large and small cross would likely have been in line. One of the hardest things to do is to take "exact" photos on non-photo tours. There is usually a lot of commotion around you, and the group is always moving on which gives you little time to concentrate on getting things just right. I've been nearly left behind on more than one occasion when trying to get the "perfect" shot. |

The soft lighting, off center composition and colors work well together. Focus in the very center of the flower is a little soft I think. I'd consider a tighter crop on all sides, I don't think the out of focus areas on the left and right add to the image, and I find the yellow on the left edge distracting. |

I love the symmetry and the color/brightness contrast. Its interesting to go back and forth to the original, to see where the image elements come from. Cropping exactly to the image works well. |

Remote photo shoots! I didn't know that was a thing. Some of the groups I participate in have found there are advantages to vitual meetings and plan to continue even after this is behind us. I wouldn't be surprised if that was also the case for remote photo shoots. Regarding ethics - I don't see how this is functionally different from using a wireless remote to take a photo. You made all the decisions and pressed the button - end of question.
I love the picture and the way it tells a story, especially the high key interpretation. Only a few suggestions - I don't think its quite level, for me the tilted wine goblet stem on the table is a little distracting. Also, I think the color in the shoe sole and wine bottle detracts from the high key look - I wonder what it would look like if they were desaturated and brightness adjusted so they would be less prominent. Well done! |
