17 Mar 21 Comment Love the colors. If its there in the original, I'd consider not cropping as tightly on the top and bottom. An exposure gradient darkening the right side of the imamge could help making the buoys over the chairs more of a focal point without losing the context of the shack. On a family vacation to Acadia, we were all looking forward to a lobster dinner. When my daughter (12 at the time) was presented with a whole lobster she immediately became a vegetarian - which lasted till the next day when she discovered lobster rolls. Mar 18th
17 Mar 21 Comment I spent a fair amount of time looking at this image trying to find a suggestion that would improve it. The only thing that comes to mind is darkening the vertical cord on the left a little so it doesn't stand out quite so much. Great image and pose. Mar 18th
17 Mar 21 Comment Car shows are tough. I've taken may pictures at car shows, but few that I'm proud of. Some of the options you can take here depend on how true to the original you want to stay. Increasing saturation/decreasing luminance of the blue would make the image more dramatic, but probably isn't true to the "bluebird" color of the car. Perhaps a small crop from the top to make the chrome more prominent. Mar 18th
17 Mar 21 Comment Great capture and composition. Monochrome works very well - gives me an idea for how to handle some of my "distracting background" shots. My suggestions relate mostly to adjusting toning to make the rider and horse stand out more in the picture. For me, darkening the background doesn't work because the contrast between the subject and background is decreased. I'd actually try and go the other way. Other suggestions are: make the barrel less of a focal point, perhaps by decreasing contrast in the barrel or blur, and make the transition between the blurred background and the sand more gradual. I tried to play with the image in Photoshop to implement these changes, and while generically I liked the result, to do it well is a significant undertaking because of all of the fine selections that must be made. (I also discovered how rusty my photoshop skills are). Mar 18th
17 Mar 21 Comment There is a certain peacefulness and serenity to the image, which I like. Joe's edits certainly add impact to the image, but at least for me, that takes away from the peaceful feeling. Perhaps a bit of a crop on the left - but not so much that that context is lost. Mar 14th
