I'm actually not very happy with my technical skills on my post processing. Not very happy with the changes. Trying to learn more how how to use LR better. |

Here is an update of my image. What I did are:
* straight the photo a bit more lean to left
* used graduated filter to darken the pipes on both side
* used brush to brighten the alley road, all the way to the motorcycle and the man
* used brush for the darker part of the sky, reduced sharpness, up dehaze, move clarity down, up the noise reduction, it seems smoothed out the sky a bit.
* by brighten the road, the wall on the building seems not matching (or too dark) well, so I added a radial filter to brighten the middle of the image

Arne, it is a jpeg format, this camera does not shoot raw, it was a very old Nikon coolpix. I think my attempt to darken the sky might caused further unevenness of the sky. I used my SLR film camera taking better pictures but they are still in negative form, still trying to figure out where and how I can get them convert to digital form without pay for a lot of money. Recently I got someone helped me converted two rolls of them, but it's nowhere near the printout photo quality. |

Thanks Michael! I noticed the lean at the front too. When I straight the photo, I use the reference from the center building. I'm wondering if the lean perspective is because the lens is 11mm. The camera seems have very wide zoom lens (attached lens, my very first very basic digital camera that I bought along with my film SLR). I'll definitely try darken the drain pipe and light up the path/person. All your suggestions are great!
I'm here to learn so I would really appreciate any suggestion, and CC. I got thick skin (so I can learn).
Question, if I tried adjust with others suggestions, do I get to repost here to see the comparisons? |

I agree that the hardest thing is to have the object to be exactly where you want it be. :-) |

Definitely will next time. The black rocks and the lava are very good contrast. Thanks. |

I like the color of this picture. The composition reminded me one of my very gray (snowy winter day) photo that I took a couple of months ago. Agree with Bill about the leveling of the image. My other suggestion for furture is the position of the person on the bridge is aligned with a post. I didn't noticed the person the first time I looked it because of that. |

That's some intense lava and heat. I went to Hawaii twice but never went to Big Island. Are the rocks that intensive black? |
