This struck me as a print from an old newspaper. I liked your choice of cropping to emphasize the subjects and the moment. Perhaps a little of the red from the original photo, selectively placed in the black and white version, would be appealing. |

My first thought was that this could be a tapestry or a rug- the colors, textures, and flow of the image, especially the bear's face, are surreal. Unfortunately I'm not equipped to offer suggestions about your editing choices. I think it would help to see the original image, especially for me. |

What I initially felt from first glance was the weight of the ropes. I believe your choice to rotate the image had a lot to do with that. I have learned another lesson about contrast/exposure from your and Arun's comments. |

The rushing water over the rocks conveys a powerful feeling. I think your deliberate choice of shutter speed indeed enhanced the image of the water's flow. The "green-ness" in the water made me wonder if the color was coming from something else around it, such as the moss on the rocks or maybe the bush above. |

What a magnificent scene! A thought that came to mind is what this may look like in different seasons and times of the day, as a motif. It did strike me that the bush on the far right did seem to be bathed in a bit more light than necessary, suggesting it as the focal point. |

I feel he is looking me right in the eye, too! And, then I thought how healthy looking with a beautiful blue bill. The shape of the black head, yellow eyes and blue bill are hypnotic. I looked it up on audubon.org and learned about its habits and listened to its songs and calls. The blurred background nicely highlights him.
