I enjoy the way you tell a story to give background to your images. It takes us all along on the journey, if just for a brief moment. I don't have time at the moment to edit your image but if I did I would tone down the background highlights and lighten the white in his coat just to seperate the side of his face and chin from the background. It looks like you took this shot with a long lens as the bokeh is lovely. |

Such a pretty young girl and her very hairy dog. I go along with Toms edit of your image as it brings out much more detail in her face and in the dog. Softness in portraits, in my opinion, belong with much older ladies who do not wish to have too much detail shown in the image. I also would in the future pose your subject in front of a less distracting background. Think of portraiture just like nature Jim as the background is equally important.
I hope your dinner was wonderful :) |

I really like this image Tom. So much to look at! I love the little hairs on the sunflower and in fact, because the image is mono it took a little while to realise the flower was a sunflower ( I didn't look on the RHS of the screen , just your featured image).
I actually think this is a cool shot. :) |

A very tactile image. The right amount of light and shade. I have no suggestions for edits at all. |

I guess it is only the author of the image who actually knows the real truth behind the shot :) A friend of mine once told me that if one has a shot that may, one day, require validation, to keep several preceding raw images and several post images. In my case where I compete in PTD, PJD and ND I have learnt to stick to this rule and keep the shots even if they are terrible!
I have no idea where I was going with this thought but it seemed relevant at the time aha. :)
I like the extra pop that you put in Tom. I wasn't sure how far I get away with it before i ruined the image. You did just the right amount. Thanks :) |

I like this crop Allen and not one that I had considered. I like it much better than my crop. Thanks for your perspective on this and I will use your crop in the future :) |

The joys of travel photography and dealing with what indeed was very harsh light. One has to take the shot and deal with the consequences afterwards ;) |
