Not for me. Lightening it would, to me, highlight the missing flower. If I was any good at PS I would duplicate another flower and cover up the missing one. I am not proficient enough to try, but, if I was, that is what I would do. Sorry that I cannot demonstrate what I am thinking. |

Thanks, I have contemplating getting one. But the size and weight has always been a concern for packing in carry on luggage. ( I bought the D850 so I had more pixels to crop out instead) but.... I never say never;) |

Looks like you and I both love the action shots!
Lots to toss out and the reward of the keepers. I spent a few years practicing with one of my daughters competing at World Cup Showjumping. Puts one in good stead for expected and unexpected action shots.
I see that you also travel so am keen to see some more of your images :) |

Such kind words Jim!
There were only the 6 of we 'westerners' at the Pacu Jawi. There was a group of Chinese - I watched one of them get flattened by a runaway Jawi! One of our group suffered a few bruises trying to get out of the way of another loose beast!
We positioned ourselves about 2 metres from the finish line right in the centre of the action :) The rice field is about 150 meters long. So, you tend to start shooting at the start line as only about 25% make it to the finish line. However, when they do you really have to be ready to run!
I do remember one moment when I was just rapid firing away and everything was going to plan - nice and close, could see the riders teeth as he was biting down on a tail and thinking "yes! this is the shot!" and then a split second later thinking "Oh O...bit too close" and then running to hide behind some Chinese :) as you do, haha
Its okay when the rope that tethers the Jawi together breaks as they split and run either side of you, but, when they are still tethered together they make quite a wide obstacle to dodge! I could go on for ages with my stories but I had better stop now. Thanks for asking Jim. |

Its just perfect Jim! I am so useless at naming images, it is something that I really struggle with. I would have used " Treading Softly" or "Crossing over Gently". Mine sound more like a funeral march so what would I know . :) |

I love your use of IR! I have never used it myself but I admire everything about this image. The stark contrasts are so intriguing. The bench invites one to want to sit and admire the view. Nicely done :) |

Nice Shot Jyoti! As a fellow Nikon user, how do you find the 200-500? |

This is really pretty and I love the almost palpable softness in the light. No suggestions from me :) |

I really like the way the flowers look "crunchy"!
My only suggestion would be is to fill in the hole in the right of the image with another flower. This would make the bouquet complete :) |

Hi Stephen, hmmm I don't really remember what I did to be honest! I only had time to upload this image and go jump on a plane so I am sorry that I neglected the editing details. I do know that I spent a bit of time cleaning up the water in the foreground in PS. I also spent some time taking away distracting water splashes from the riders face and some from the hides of the Jawi also in PS. I would have used the shadows and highlight sliders in LR (as these are my first go to tools for pretty well much every shot that I edit). Pretty sure I just ran it through Nik and didn't use any sharpening or enhancing tools. The iso2000 & 1/2000sec in the middle of the day with a pretty big crop and straighten in LR gave me a substantial number of images that I was happy with.
Thanks so much for your interest in my contribution this month! |
