Thanks for your response Mike. I have read many articles about 'Why convert images to monochrome?'. The most comprehensive, to me, is from my senior PSA mentor - Roy Killen. https://belmont16s.myphotoclub.com.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/05/Basic-monochrome-2016.compressed.pdf |

Hi Mike. This another interesting image to learn and discuss. I like how you set the background. I agree with Jan to level the bridge and apply lens correction. I also agree with Gunter and Candy. I would rather place one Kestrel on the far left and another one on the far right. To create the story of 'a bridge too far'. Thanks for the group. You guys make my brain work. Think, analyze and express my self in English my second language. |

Hi Jan. Not just enjoy the final results. I also enjoy your explanation on how you developed this image. What left me curious is I don't see much of original 1 in the final image. I like so much how you extract the trees and reduced its opacity to create more depth. Excellent work. |

I found color for this image is a bit distracting. What's your opinion? Black and White or Selective Color? |

Hi Jack. I have been a while spending a lot of time, money and efforts following various photo competitions. I got many acceptance and honorable but not medal. Like you, I keep asking my self why judges don't rate my images high? Then, I was seriously attending PSA course Creating Images for Competitions.
One of the lessons was to review some winning photos. I asked my mentor. Why there was one image that won medals in several competitions but not even get accepted in another competitions. His response was ... Photo competitions is so much subjective by the judges. So ... it's a matter of like and dislike.
Literally, I give up and left them all. |

Hi Dan. What an awesome shot. It's a combination between luck and photography skill. What I learned from Roy Killen, Senior PSA mentor in Nature Photography. This was the 2nd degree of nature where you see animals actions. To answer your question. I would likely crop this image.

Hi LC. What's Nature SG? It's a story telling image to me. The right side of the crop image is a bit too bright. I prefer the original exposure. |

Hi Ginny. I think you have done well when shooting. Unfortunately, in digital era, shooting is only 50% done. The simplest and basic step in editing is cropping. |

You are right LC. The aquarium glass was very dirty and full of debris. It took me a while to denoise and remove the debris. I did it all in PS. Thanks for spotting my slopy work :) |
