Hi Mike. Your creation is not just beautiful in nature. But it inspired me. I promised to steal your ideas shamelessly and catch up with you for my next month post. See you next month Mike! |

This group not just upgrading my photography skill but also my English. :) Gunter made me google the meaning of ... 'my cup of tea' ... I appreciate Jan efforts to digitally draw her imagination into a canvas. I love how Jan placed a thin square and glowing borders. Like Steve said its the icing on the cake :) Nice work Jan. |

Hi Steve. I have reviewed your website many times and just love how you patiently taking time for the right moment when capturing people eyes and expressions. The original 2, Marion and its outfit, was just one of my favorite examples. I imagine the Marion eyes and its strong character should likely be the vocal point of the whole composite among the tulips. Sorry, this is just my humble two cents. |

Hi Kirk. You get my full empathy to take this picture by your phone. I can fully understand how you feel when your camera get stuck during precious moments of your trip. That's one of my reasons I always carry my pocket camera with my DSLR when traveling. Good to hear you have been teaching English in China. Huang Shan (Yellow mountain) is indeed one of my favorite spots in China. |

Hi Geoff. I did not set the people. Like my explanation to Kirk. They were there before I came. Unfortunately, they were not actors so their gestures was indeed a bit awkward. :) |

Hi Kirk. Thanks for your comments. This young couple was facing the fall when I first saw them. And I asked them if the man would pretend if he was proposing the girl. But indeed they looked awkward. :) |

Hi Geoff. I spend many years as a consultant in various mine industry. I know Rio Tinto. However, this is my first time to see a diamond mine. A unique formation.
I agree with Pierre and Kirk. Viewers eyes demand to see what is on the left and right of the image. I would normally took several shots and try to stitch into panoramic if all possible.
I am wondering, did you shot behind glass window and get obstructed by window reflections? I normally carry rubber lens hood to avoid window reflections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTrBJqMmmG8&t=67s |

Hi Terina. I agree with comments from Pierre, Kirk and Geoff here. The two men walking is the strong vocal point of the image. My eyes travel form right to left to enjoy beautiful colorful sky and mood. I suggest you remove the flying birds. Nice shot and I think you have done great job processing it. |

Hi Pierre. I like how you place your sky, horizon and foreground into the compositions. It almost like layers of earth pudding. Very nice. |

Hi Jack. What an awesome shot and edit. I love the color mood, DOF (background to foreground), composition and the finish look. No suggestion. To me, you have done an excellent work. |

Hi Dan. To me, photography is more of personal preference. In this case, I just like your original crop and edit. This is not a suggestion. But I would normally de-sharpened the tree a bit to allow my viewer eyes more on to the bird rather than the crispy tree. Just my humble two cents. |

As a matter of fact, I purposely crop square for this post to include more trees at the bottom for negative space in nature photography as you suggested last month. :)
Anyway, thanks for your comments LC. |

Hi LC. I am also a Canon user and has been long comparing R5 vs R6 and Canon EF100-400 vs Sigma 150-600. I think R5 and EF100-400 is the right choice for professional nature photographer. As a humble hobbyist, I decided R6 (mark 1) and Sigma 150-600.
Thanks for showing your original image and its heavily crop result. I agree with Jack Twiggs to increase shadow of the birds a bit. |

Hi Ginny. You deserve my full empathy if you can not edit in photoshop. It took me years to learn it. If you really want to begin editing your images. I suggest you start with Lightroom (LR). Forget about Photoshop (PS) - at least for a while. PS is far too complex to learn because it has so many tools to incorporate graphic design. |

I just realize cropping is one of important key factors in successful image. I also learned about negative space for nature photography from our new friend LC Boros last month.
Thanks if you see my aim adding story to the environment for the square crop. |

Yes. All of my images are edited in LR, PS, both or even other applications. That's the fun I enjoyed so much for my retire time. To me, that's the difference between 'taking pictures' and 'creating pictures'. Thanks for asking Ginny. |
