Hi Judy, I love to see how you spot this unique frame. You asked: is there any hope 'to salvage this overly underexposed image'? Worked in LR with local brushes? My answer to your question is yes. I think you have successfully adjust the overall exposure to this level. In my experience you cannot do much with pixels that are totally dark or 100% shadow. In this case, I suggest you maintain the darkness of the wall as a silhouette frame and adjusted (only) part of the sunrise and nice dawn color sky. You can simply do it all in Lightroom. Otherwise, you might want to do it with layer masking in Photoshop. I found a helpful Tutorial Video by Signature Edits. You will see how easy to tweak and adjustment this area. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSo_DuGC_a0. Try it it your self and have fun with it. |

Hi Glen. I like how you smoothed the sea waves with 35 secs speed set in a simple but nice composition. The overall scene brings me a pleasant and smooth feeling. My input, I think the Horizon is slightly crooked. I was just imagining it would be great if you have a chance to include some one with leading steps like in Windows 10 wall paper to gave the viewer a sense of skill of the beach. Nice work Glen. |

Hi Todd. Definitely, I like the B&W version. It's just awesome how you you graded the soft tone layers and compose it nicely in front of tree silhouette. My only suggestion, I might want to brightened part of the trees on the left corner for brighter foreground on the left. Nice work Todd. |

Piere, I agree with Glen. Indeed, this a beautiful landscape. I would increase the overall saturation. Decrease the exposure a bit to make it darker. Then, apply some local adjustment to brightened and make more vivid for more dimensional effect. But, again it is all my humble taste. |

Glen, thanks for your kind words. My photography journey is indeed surrounded by many enthusiast photographers in a local club. Many of them hunt pictures just for competitions. While I took pictures to enjoy my time when traveling. I selected some that I think deserve for photo competition. But, I did it all for fun. I will follow your advice to enter just what I like and be persistent! |

Hi Lamar. Now adays when post processing becoming an integral part of photography many of us get confused whether one particular spot is as a result of post processing adjustment or original scene when image was taken. Whatever it is, I like your original image. To me, the bright orange and the deep blue sky is a complete set that brings impact to thise image. I agree with Glen, the trees on the left, the foreground grass and the waterway is a perfect composition to my eyes. Job well done Lamar. |
