I am a typical of auto deduct person in many aspects. However, I found that learning photography is almost like learning golf. We need friends or some body else to comments on our works. We also learn when we comment others work, that's why I mostly take the opportunity to comment on most of your works. Both for good things or room for improvements.
Although I like photography since my childhood, I never learn it seriously until I joined PSA end of last year although I only active in this Group Discussions.
I tested myself by attending PSA Photo Contest this year. Four of eight images are accepted in PSA TRAVEL DIVISION. One of three images is accepted in PID Monochrome Open. So, I know I must have learned a lot from all of you. Thank you guys! |

Glen, Thanks for your input. The leading line is good but it would be more punch if the viewer could see what's at the end of the road. I should have positioned my self more left when taking this shot. |

Lamar, Your suggestion is well appreciated. The picture was taken and edited in 2016. That's the beginning of my learning curve using Lightroom. Indeed the edition should be done both Lightroom and masking in Photoshop. |

Hi Judy. I agree with you the sky is to flat. Sky replacement? Yes, that's one of the options. Thanks for your suggestions.

PW: You do not have to use Photoshop to create Panos or HDR. These functions are available on Lightroom.
FG: Indeed, this image is a panoramic stitches from several frames. I did it all in Lightroom.
PW: I am wondering if you use a little too much of the "dehazing" function?
FG: No, I am not using Dehaze mode at all. The downside of the original images is shallow dynamic range, almost 6 stops between the bright side of the image (mountain top on the left) and the bush and the road side. I have boosted the dynamic range up to 3 stops. It looks fine in lightroom screen but degrade tremendously when compressed and saved. This really matters when you submit the image for photo contest that normally less than 2 MB. Jury would certainly drop our images in the early stage.
Thanks Pierre for such question. You make me more cautious when compressing image files. |

Hi Judi,
I like this image for it's simplicity and smooth color transitions.
As commented by Pierre and Lamar, composition wise, my eyes wanting to see more room around the plant and it's reflection. If possible, it would be nice to include the whole water rings. |

Kathryn,
As suggested by Stephen Levitas, I also checked out another rodeo shots. Photography is somewhat objective. I prefer the image you post here. It's a successful panning technique. To me, this image is simple, clean and clear. Most people would enjoy it. I wonder if you sharpened the cowboy's face and his hat. If you do, you have done it perfectly well.
My only suggestion is to keep a more balance composition by allowing more room above the cowboy hat.
It's an awesome work Kathryn. |

Glen,
I love this image, nice, calm and soothing. I wonder if you increased illumination - part of the green leaves and moss covered stones. If you do, you have done it great!
The shutter speed was 15 sec and resulted in silky water flow that smooth and soothing. I almost have nothing to improve except darkened some parts of the scene by a little bit of dodging to enhance dramatic effect of the scene.
Nice work Glen! |

Charles,
I think I can understand what you are trying to tell us with your image.
The first object that attract my eyes is the alone building at the far left. You have successfully created a leading line with the morning fog as a horizon and ended at the Silo.
If I were to suggest, I would crop the image and exclude the two buildings on the left. |

Hi Piere,
I agree with comments from Judy, Lamar and Kathryn. Room for improvements? I would crop and exclude tree silhouette on the left corner. |

Hi Lamar,
You have chosen perfect scenery for your IR project. To me, this is a perfect base image to enhance for a mystical mood photo. I would darkened part of the sky, then create a bit of rim light effect on tree brunches and leaves. This would give more punch for a mystical mood photo. Good work, and thanks for sharing it with us. |
