What a beautiful wabi-sabi image. I like the new background colors you chose. I also like Jan's version a lot. Both are really nice.
Sorry I am so late in commenting this month. I was downed by pneumonia and hospitalization at the end of October, and am finally back up as of a bit over a week ago. While I was out of it, Oregon changed from fall to winter! What we see now is not even as nice as your wabi-sabi catch! |

I agree that the other poppies in the image are a distraction. The detail in the main poppie is good. It is hard to get detail in something all red like that! But, we are blessed with good phone cameras now. I've been using mine almost exclusively, as carrying a heavy camera is no longer my cup of tea!
I played with your image a bit: Removed the top background poppies; separated the subject flower from the background; and used an Exposure adjustment layer to darken the background and blur it a bit with the sliders in that adjustment layer. I also rotated and moved the poppie a bit |

This is so beautiful, like so many of your images! It reminded me of the old Dutch Masters paintings, so to move it more toward that concept, I darkened the image a bit with a Darken/Lighten Center preset in NIK Color Efex Pro.
Still lifes are so fun! |

I like your final version, except for the power lines. I agree that they are a distraction. If you wanted to document the power line structure, I believe that you should include one of the towers to which it attaches with it. As it is, the lines don't tell much of a story.
The sunrise does add to the image and its absence in the black and white version, is a loss, in my opinion.
To emphasize the sunrise aspect, I used a brightness/contrast adjustment layer and painted that layer out on most of the sky and a bit of the clouds. The adjustment layer darkened the right lower side, where the wires had been (which I removed with PS Content Aware Fill. |

When I opened your site and saw this beautiful lamp, I immediately noticed how much your image strikes a mood. I love the way your image evokes an emotion. Not many images can achieve that.
I disagree with emphasizing the base of the lamp more. Doing so seems to me to greatly lessen the emotional impact of the image.
My husband was walking by when I opened this page, and he commented "What a beautiful picture!" I think you managed to photograph an enduring scene. Great job! |

This is beautiful! I love that you flipped the image and the black and white treatment really improved the original, in my opinion. I'm not sure about the increased contrast. In my opinion, you don't want to loose those wispy radiant clouds, as they do add drama.
Great job! |
