Thank you Rita.
"stamp up" means to apply all visible layers into one layer. That layer is added on top of wherever you had selected before invoking the "stamp up". This is a merging of all layers into one layer, without deleting all the layers that have the eyeball on.
To Stamp up in Photoshop, hold down the Shift + Ctrl + Alt + E. Alternatively, you can hold down the Alt key and click on Merge Visible. Merge Visible key is foumd by clicking the three little lines at the top of the Layer Palate and scrolling down to Merge Visible (remember to continue holding the Alt key when you click on Merge Visible.) |

What a beauty! I loved the way you brought out the purple color in the flower. As to the Smudge filter, I'm afraid these old eyes can't tell the difference between that and the original with respect to smudging. The image is just beautiful as you have made it!
BTW, what and where is the "point color tool"? |

Rita, to answer your question, I prefer the edited image over the original. But both are intriguing. I decided to play with your image. In Camera Raw, I decreased clarity and saturation. Next, the Black slider was put way to the left, while the Shadow slider went all the way to the top. Under Detail, I increased the luminence and moved the color to the left, eliminating most of the color. In Photoshop, I applied the Darken/Lighten Center and moved the center to the bottom of the image. That made the near sand at the bottom brighter and the intensity decreased toward the top of the image. The intent was to give some depth to the imate. Finally, I applied a masked Exposure adjustment layer and used it to lighten the dark upper left. The really dark color of the sand there was distracting to me.
I do love your image. Years ago, when I had more stamina, Fred and I went to White Sands, NM to photograph the dunes. Your image reminded me of those wonderful days. I also photographed the patterns in the sand, which are beautiful to me. Good luck on your camera club contest. We lived in Sun Lakes, AZ for18 years before moving to Myrtle Beach. We were very active in the Sun Lakes Camera Club. We also did some judging up at Sun City. That club is really professonal . |

Wow, you certainly made a beautiful, calming image. I love the colors you added, as well as those beautiful silhouetted trees.
I didn't know what that stuff on the left was until I read Mary's review. I thought it looked like a shark fin. At any rate, to my taste, I woud leave the sailboat out of the image, as it seems to be a distraction. Alternatively, perhaps you could consider making it larger, so that it is unmistakenly a sail boat.
Again, I find your image very appealing! |

Opps. Georgianne Giese posted this comment, not my husband Fred Giese! Fred had logged in to PSA on my computer and forgot to log out, and I didn't realize that! |
