Thank all of you for your comments and redos. Last year we attended the Art Museum in NC. They had an exhibit of still lifes painted by the Dutch Masters. I was heavily influenced by those old paintings, which had muted colors. Guess that is why I chose to mute the colors in my image. But, I really like the various alterations you all suggested. Unmuting the blues really does work! |

Denise, I love what you have done with my image. It really does improve it, in my estimation. |

Sweet subject Denise! I agree that the white fuzzies in the background are distracting. Linda's enhancement of contrast works well, to my eye. But your image is well done. The hugging affect is adorable!
Fuzzies are always alluring. I too love dandelions. I wish we could get more of them around here, but the public consensus is that they are a 'weed.' That is sad. They are nature's garden gift!

Beautiful! Focus stacking when there is a wind blowing the flower to and fro, must have been quite a challenge. I too love to do focus stacking. I don't see any noise in this image, which one expects as the ISO goes up. But you handled that perfectly.
Good job!

Jan, I really like the treatment you gave to this image. I also agree with Linda's removal of the dark tree.
Good job!

You did a good job on the hair. Linda also added to the image by taking out some of the wrinkles on the skin.
The image itself is something that I personally do not like. She looks so angry and I'm sure that isn't that way most of the time.
I wanted to add a bit of a story to give a more complete story to the image. So I used Color Efex Pro to soften the lines in the face. Following that, I stamped up, added a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, and then super imposed a rain drop pattern from an image I took years ago. Using a mask, I softened those drops over her face. So now, she is looking through a window at a dreary rainy day, to give a reason for her unflattering facial expression. |

To me, this shot is well composed. I appreciate the subject and the coloring.
I agree with Linda, that DeNoise and sharpen are called for. Low light photography always seems to add more noise that we perfer.
The briteness on the handkerchief could, perhaps, use a bit of toneing down.
I used Topaz Denoise AI to dampen down the low light noise. Then I selected the handkerchief with Polygonal Lasso tool. Then I applied Levels tool to dampen down the white in the handkerchief. |
