thanks Jan. I've used that filter before, but didn't have much luck with it because of all the lines it inserted elsewhere. But, I didn't have the slider all the way to the right either, if I recall correctly. Thanks for this insight. I will try it again.
Thanks for the good wishes on health. Unfortunately, it turns out that my back is worse now, according to the MRI. So, I am seeing a specialist 4 hours north and will need another operation. It seems with Covid and all the medical issues for me over the last two years, that there never seems to be an end to what all of us have to face! |

This is a great story telling composition. You did a good job in pulling all the elements together.
My only suggestion would be to eliminate the flock of birds. To me, they draw the eye out of the image, and I don't think they are necessary to the image. |

Jan, once again you have produced an outstanding image! This fantasy land image has great texture to it. The placement of the images is fantastic for the story. Ditto everything Steve and Fran said. I love it.
You are so very imaginative! |

Well, to each his own. An image symbology is in the eye of the beholder.:-)
I like the technical aspects of this image. It is really abstract. I also appreciate the story telling that you endeavor to do with this image.
Before reading your explanation, I tried to figure out what this image was meant to convey. To me, it is conveying the resistance of the soul (mind), to accept going through the door to Self awareness, when it clings to its ego's perception rather than to the higher mind's reason.

Wow, I do like the abstractness of the background. The whole image blends together well, in my opinion. I love the different textures and colors!
You always have the best portraits to work with! |

Shadows would be nice, but they would make for a different style than I was after. I wanted a more "primitive" look. |

Thanks Steve! You are a dear! Yes, that is what I was looking for. Thank you for showing me how to do it!

Thanks Bev. I'm sure you can do it also. This is my first attempt at something like this. It's been perkilating for a very long time, but I could never get a vision of what I wanted. |

It was not exactly what I had imagined. I did start out with a vision, but it morphed into something else. But the resultant feeling was very close to the feeling of my original image. Thanks for your comments. |

This is a lovely pastoral scene. I don't believe the image is too dark. For evening, it is just not saturated enough, in my opinion.
Have you considered making it a panorama? The colors seemed wrong to me, for sunset. So in PS, I used Image > Adjustments > Replace Color to alter the greens, reds, and blues. I also cropped it into a panorama. The colors at sunset are a bit more saturated.
The panorama crop puts the horizon at the upper third, the tall grass tops at the lower third, and positions the two buildings at each of the upper power points. |

I prefer Linda's rendition. The image seems a bit plain to me. As a second version, you might consider bringing back the color in the center halo.
I didn't do the most professional job on my possible alternative image, but here it is, just to share the idea. Layered the final image over the original, flipped it, used a mask to paint back the center, and reshaped the original image to fit the final image when I realized they were different sizes. |

In my opinion, this is a beautiful image. It would make a great holiday card for the end of this year! I do like the jagged edging. The affection shown in the image really tells the story. The texture of "snow" is perfect for the story and enhances the original. |

This is a very inspired idea! The only thought I have about it, with respect to making the moonlight more realistic, is to keep the moon in the lower position, as when it is lower, it looks more responsible for the light reflections on the buildings, as well as the fact that a high moon is not that large, but a low moon is.
Great composite! |
