Jan, I've never heard of steampunk before, but I do love it! My compliments to your husband also! I'd put that lamp in my home in a split second, right beneath your work of art! :-) |

Denise, welcome to our group. Your submittal is fantastic! I love the colors, the composition, the story. I am especially fascinated by the way you added hair and the draping of fabric over her thighs. The reflection in the bottom water is very impressive. |

I am not familiar with Magritte's work. Can you send me a link to see that image? The concept of photography 'imitating' art is one I applaud! |

I love your concept here. You did a good job of transforming the shirt into a black suit and handling the components of the idea.
In my opinion, the pumpkin looks too small and out of place, with the stem showing, if your goal was to illustrate a 'pumpkin head'.
I enlarged the pumpkin and distorted it upward and inward at the sides. Then I cut out the hat and placed it over the top of the pumpkin, filling in the missing part of the hat with black. |

Experimenting like this is what all of us should be doing, in my opinion. In this case, I'm not very fond of the result, but without experimentation, one can never find out what one can produce. I assume that you like this result, so I congratulate you on your work!
Mostly I disliked the glaring green background and the inner ring of blurry flower surrounding a sharp part and surrounded by a sharp outer ring.
Have you tried Helicon Focus software to merge images taken of the same subject at different focal points?
To develop an alternate (for me), I took the image into NIK Color Efex Pro 4 and applied an infrared preset. Then I merged up and applied SilverEfex Pro preset: Wet Rocks with a blue filter. To give some additional interest to the black background, I copied the top layer and applied Topaz Labs Texture Effects 2: Grunge Punch. A mask on that layer was used at 100% opacity to reveal the flower, and 40% opacity to reveal more of the stem and lower left green. |

You did a very good job of muting the background and bringing out the color of the turkey, by contrast. I appreciate the fact that the color of the background matches the smaller patches of color on the turkey. That adds emphasis to the turkey, in my opinion.
Just for fun, one might try adding a more predominant texture over the background, but one that kept the background color as it is. |

As usual Steve, you know just how to turn a portrait into a work of art. The paler color, heightened contrast (with blacks), and texture really make this a striking image. The only thing you might consider is to make the top edge of the hat a bit more defined, as it seems to fade into the background, contrary to the crispness of the rest of the image. |

This takes the cake for me this month! I absolutely love it! The painted dress, the paler skin, all the layers of items, the background, and the textures make for a very impactful image! The ring around the eye really emphasizes her eye. I don't see a thing that I would change. Great job! Very creative! |
