I live in Myrtle Beach. We've been hit by more than a few hurricanes over the last 100 years. The most recent scare was Hurricane Florence, which was a near miss, landing just north of us, near where we lived 1 1/2 years ago in North Carolina. Storms at sea are on my mind! My thought process started with wanting to do something with that cat, as well as with the Milky Way image. It just sort of coalesced as I started searching my old images for images that might work together. Of course, since storms were on my mind, the result depicted a storm! We had a 2 1/2 week guest arrive at our home the day before Florence became a warning for us. 2 days after he arrived, the governor issued a mandatory evacuation. Before leaving, I hurriedly attempted to back up my most recent couple of months images. Suddenly, ever single image disappeared from my hard drive--a years work, including this image. Fortunately, most was backed up, except the recent work. We left in a hurry, and stayed away for a week, in a hotel to the west. Came back and now we are under a flood warning, as the floods in NC are heading our way. We are surrounded by downstream rivers. We're keeping our fingers crossed. Rivers crest on Thursday, and it's Tuesday now. I'm trying to recreate this image from my backup CR2s. Don't have time to do much else this month. Guest just left, house and yard are a mess! |
