34 Apr 18 Reply Steve, I love what you did! Personally, I love the medley of colors and find stained glass to be busy by its nature. I love that business. But your added treatment really brings out the curvature of that fantastic staircase! Apr 11th
34 Apr 18 Reply Helen, I'm puzzled by your comment about the fog. I don't see any fog. There might be a bit of blurring, representing fog, on the mirror by Elliot's hand, but I don't detect anything like fog on Elliot. Perhaps it's the pencil filter that obscures it, or maybe it's just my aging eyes! As to the club judge's comments, I'd ignore them. I've found most camera club judges are so old school, that they resent any artistic post processing. Ansel Adams would give them the cold shoulder! He was an innovator, but old school photographers didn't really know about him and they just like straight photography, as they have built their identiy upon it! Apr 8th
34 Apr 18 Comment I find the original still life image to be very attractive. YOur treatment of it enhanced its artistic appeal even more. The glasses have a charming reflective glow. The candle light illuminates the printing in the darkness. I don't find it objectionable at all. You might try a bit of a blue tipped flame and a bit more edge on the flame, to see if that works better, but the entire image works well for me. Apr 8th

34 Apr 18 Comment Good crop on the image. The pencil filter did a really nice job of turning this portrait into an attractive work of art, in my opinion. Apr 8th
34 Apr 18 Comment Fun image. Blend modes are fun to work with.

34 Apr 18 Comment This is a very nice composition. I agree about the shadow on the right. I do think the groyne there adds to the balance of the image, but perhaps you could move the shadow to be at a more synchronous angle. Apr 8th

34 Apr 18 Comment Wonderful! This is an image I'd love to hang on my kitchen wall (if only I had one!). I love the lines, as well as your clever inspiration! Apr 2nd
