The concept here is fine, in my opinion. As to the light, it seems to be coming from top center, slightly forward and to the right. I'd lighten her head a bit and, perhaps, just slightly darken the area beneath her.
You can download and reinstall the NIK filters from Google. Just do a search for it. The NIK filters are free, for now. |

Jan, this is inspirational, and my favorite image this round, so far! I'm going to check out that instructional site and play with this technique when I return home from our road trip! The color gradient adds the crowning touch, in my opinion. I'd imagine this technique could also be used with overlays that are not textual, though the textual one you used is very impacting! I'm going to try different effects. |

To me, the first version is lovely and shows that you did a great job of photographing this flower! However, I favor the B&W version you have created a bit more. It has a touching 'WOW' factor for me! I love the gradation of grays and the texture. The structure of the flower definitely stands out, in a very appealing manner, in my opinion. Love it! |

Lovely image! The color, lighting and texture you added are very effective, in my opinion. I'm not sure which would be easier, but my first inclination to darken that stone wall would be to select the color of the dark stones, than add a color adjustment layer, manipulating with opacity and blending mode, and masking out the non-stone part of the image. But there are many ways of achieving similar effects! You did a great job of creating an image I would put on my wall! |

I like the way you brought out the detail in her face. The background treatment is very effective, in my opinion! The texture on her face seems to help the mood also. Love it!
You might consider leaving a bit of the rain on her face, with water on her cheeks and some running of the makeup. I didn't realize that the background was rain, until reading your description. |
