I find the comments of your club somewhat amusing. How in the world are you ever going to take a live action rodeo shot and frame the image with no distracting background?
I have no problem with the bull not being in complete focus. Maybe the focus could be improved in some areas by using the tool in Photoshop that is supposed to correct blur and camera shake. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the tool. |

I add my thanks to rest for telling the story and providing background.
If this was my image, I probably would straighten the verticals as suggested by Stephan. I was also wondering if it was possible to step farther back when shooting the image. The feeling of the circle seems truncated to me. I would like to see a bit more of the circle on the bottom and a bit more framing with the green plants along the bottom edge. |

You did capture an excellent but brief moment of time. I also prefer the wider view giving more context to the life of the bison. |

I'm impressed with your Photoshop skills. I don't detect signs of extending the image or other detail work that you did.
One little suggestion, you might want to consider toning down that very bright spot in the sky. |

Nice balance of monochrome tones in this image. I agree with Mark about toning down the background behind his head. The eye is drawn to the darkest and lightest tones. My eye does feel pulled to the bright spot and away from the dog's face. |

I think the framing and composition of this image are spot on. The point of view you selected really works artistically.
I do have one small suggestion. You might consider cropping a bit more off the left side so that the window on the left edge is removed. For me, the window was a distraction that pulled my eye out of the image. |

Thank you for the suggestions for improvement. I added a white border as suggested. I also lightened the body and head so that they stood out more from the background. After following your suggestions, I did enter the image in the S4C (Southern California Council of Camera Clubs) November competition n the PID Color division. Once results are posted, I will let you know how the image did. |
