Great night time image. Your composition is great with the boat on the intersection of third lines. Most of the dust/oil spots visible in the sky can easily be removed in either Light Room or Photoshop. To my eye, the image tilts slightly downward to the left. That can also be fixed easily in LR or PS. I would also try the NIK tonal clarity filter with no more than 10 on any slider. The colors looks slightly muddy to me. Because the boat is moving, it is out of focus. However, PS now has a shake reduction filter that could possibly eliminate the blur on the boat. There are video tutorials on how to use this filter. It is worth a try because it could greatly improve an already good image. |

Lovely image overall. I have one minor suggestion. I would try using the NIK tonal clarity filter in a very small dose, no more than 10 on any slider. The reason I suggest this is because the color tones look slightly muddy to me. The tonal clarity filter does wonders for this when used sparingly. |

Kim, I would much rather travel with someone else especially another photographer. However, since at this point in time I do not have a travel partner my only choice is to travel alone or give up landscape photography.
I agree with you about the lighter rocks in the left bottom corner. As you can see from the original, I cropped quite a bit of them out of the image. But, I guess I could do some burning or something to darken them so that they don't draw the eye so much. Thank you for drawing that to my attention. |

I forgot to mention that I feel like the sky is too cyan. You might want to adjust your blue tones in LR or PS. Just a suggestion. |

I agree that you should crop or clone the road out. There are multiple ways in PhotoShop to remove the road if you don't want to or don't have enough pixels to crop the road out.
I don't know if you have NIK filters (now DXO). Tonal Contrast and Detail Extractor used in moderation are my best friends when post processing. |

I feel a little different about this picture. Although the new sky is far more colorful and dramatic, I see a problem with the direction of the light. In your new sky, the sun is obviously setting or rising (not sure which) behind the light house. In that case, the front of the lighthouse and the rocks would be in shadow rather than lit up. Just something to consider when combining images. |

LOL...as long as you are cropping at the bottom, I would also suggest a very slight crop on the right, just to that narrow tree trunk on the top right. That tiny bit of foliage to the right of the trunk is a distraction. |

I love the image. I am impressed that you saw and caught just a moment in time. I agree with the black and white, good choice. I love the idea of a vignette, but I'm not sure it is the best shape. You might want to play around with that. You can make a free form vignette in PhotoShop by creating a blank layer and painting on it with a soft black brush of low opacity.
Also, to my eye, all the verticals feel tilted to the left. You might want to use the Transform tool in PhotoShop to straighten them. |

Thank you Lynette. Not only did I get up early, but I did it for the first time all by myself with no travel partner. That is what impresses me...lol. |

Thank you. I just entered it in the first monthly competition for S4C (local club). I hope the judges share your opinion. |

Thank you Guy for your encouraging comments. As you can see from the original raw image, I cropped it considerably to get the correct composition. I always shoot wide...I can always crop, but I can't add to the image. |
