The previous comments seemed spot on. I love the forests, but they can be "busy" shots. This isn't too busy to me. I think the focus throughout the whole depth of shot is smart and clear. I played (again) with cropping even more (a theme of mine this month) but think you nailed the cropping with your final post. The dark front trunks stand out and allow for the contrasting light in the back. Nice!

Laura - how brave to travel alone, and diligent to get up so early. The colors are stunning. My eyes keep going to the bottom left corner where the beautiful rocks are so much lighter. I played around with your shot with some significant cropping (less sky, less rocks), but yours is still the best. |

As others said, the B and W transform was perfect for this. I really like the shot and would have nothing to offer to fix. I think a totally different picture from this shot could just be the man and the door refection, but it is the background that makes it a story. |

What a great sky. The color of the sky in the water is what makes the shot for me. |

Donna - what a dramatic change with the edits and the sky. It could be a painting. And there are many interesting aspects to the shot. I could see several other completely different crops. Taking out the water altogether, having just the water and rocks. But the light house completes it, and I like its placement.

Jim, you take such a variety of types of shots. This is lovely. While the edited one is certainly brighter with the edits, I kind of liked the darker trees in the original. Both are nice. The blue sky is dramatic. |
