All, your comments are so thoughtful, thank you so much. Supritam, I doubt I will be on that side of the country again any time soon, although my sis does live in OR, so it is a possibility. But I appreciate the framing set up suggestion and will keep it in mind in the future. It was an amazing place, and the pic was taken June 1st, (2016 I believe) with all that snow, there were piles of it. Not to mention part of the road around Crater Lake was still closed (not expected to open til July, a bit late even by their standards.
I appreciate the cropping suggestions, but I am not sure how to address the "negative space". Any suggestions? I will eventually go back and play with all of your lovely ideas, I just can't mess with that photo anytime soon, I am now officially sick of it. |

Kayvon, again I just love water and sunsets. The colors here are so soft, it's like a painting. Did you change the "horizon tilt"? I felt like I noticed it when I first looked at the pic, but now I don't see it, I just see the beauty of the colors. |

Laura Lee, how interesting that we both submitted photos of the same area, I posted mine without seeing yours before hand. I just love your colors and the transformation from your original. I am not yet that photographically devoted to get up for sunrises, perhaps in time. Thanks for posting the original and describing the process. The light rays coming down over the island are just breath taking and some of my favorite experiences when I get them (albeit usually for sunsets). Please keep describing your process, I am learning alot. |

Lynette, what are those two thinking anyway? It is what the pic begs me to ask. I love the color and the "expressions". I would so appreciate seeing the original, as I find the way you all are transforming your images so "enlightening". |

Philip, what a lovely place to have so close. I always love water and sunsets. I think the tree on the right provides such a nice way to get perspective. |

Supritam, the others in the group really addressed what I liked including the b & w as well as the kids expressions. In addition, what I particularly like, is your low vantage point, almost looking up. It provides a depth that would be missing otherwise, or so it seems. |

Jim, it's so nice to see an original and the final. It helps in my learning. I like the eyes and the water "softness". The comments from the group are so valuable and it is great to hear how my thoughts of the image are put into words. |
