Tab, I think you are right. I'll work on it when I want to enter it into an exhibit. Jim |

Steve, you have done an exceptional job of presenting water in a more favorable light. I like your second version the best as it shows some sky blue reflection. Thank you so much for all this effort. Jim |

Steve, You've been doing a lot of work. I really appreciate the ways you present different colors. Your versions of the osprey are muted, not as much of the striking coloration and contrast that I had envisioned as the natural state. I still like what I submitted because that is the way that the Chesapeake Bay looks here in Havre de Grace, MD. Jim |

Sam, Your still-life is spot on, great lighting, exceptional focus. Please tell us more. Was the photo stacking different focal lengths or different light angles?
I like your final background. It shows texture details and has light tracing the outline of the vegetables and flowers. a blurred background would be easy to ignore, but your details clearly define the wall behind the table. Jim |

I think that you repeated many of the steps that I did on my final photo. I did increase blue for the water as well as reds, orange, yellow by raising the temperature. How's this?

Steven, Thank you for all of your efforts -- but you did all that work on the original, before I adjusted cropped it tighter than you did and then made my adjustments. |

Tab, I respect your artistic reasons to include the foreground, especially for the rule of thirds, but it needs something happening in the foreground. I used the dodge tool, 8% highlights to bring out the flowers in the rock, giving a lead-in line to the three pines and the snow on the mountain trails. Let me know what you think of this idea. Jim |

Thorro, I like the bright colors of the blue hull and floats hanging on the side. Too bad it wasn't headed out to sea leaving a wake behind. I suggest that you use the burn tool (midtones) at 21% to darken the white sand that crosses behind the white mast. Don't worry about the mast - it's pure white and won't burn if you run across it. Let me know what you think. Jim |

Steven, Thank you again for sharing species and their behaviors from the Arabian Gulf. You documented this very well, the gull is sharp and composed well. One suggestion to consider is to highlight the water going over the head of the gull and highlight the water dribble stream from the other gull. In Photoshop I used the dodge tool, selecting highlights at 8% exposure. I think this draws attention to the behavior and helps explain why the bill is underwater. Let me know what you think. Jim |
