Bev, thank you for doing this. I followed Larry's suggestion and purchased Topaz Denoise AI and the Sharpen AI on discount. I used them and got great results. I also burned the neck/head feathers for better definition and detail. I resized it to post here today. My rendition may be darker than yours. I evened out the exposure dodge and burning them to be even, but let it be a bit darker because it is the shadow side. Jim |

Sam, what an ambitious project. I love your imagination. this is very well done. I wish you would have shared the separate photos which made up this composite. Painting in shadows is necessary to complete it. It seems to me that you chose shadows to be cast ahead of the horse, yet the light on the horse seems to come from the side. The foreground mist helps set the mood, but has a harsh right edge. Perhaps you could soften it on the far right. Jim |

Tab, sometimes a smudge like this is dust on the smaller end of the lens - the end that goes into the camera. Jim |

Albert, you did keep it dark, mysterious and ominous - as if Bilbo Baggins is weary on the way to Mordor. I have never been to Norway, and not on a gloomy day. The colors do seem altered from what is natural. It would help if you shared the original so we can see what alterations you made.
I think you did what you set out to do. The foreground seems to be grainy and noisy. What ISO did you use? Jim |

Larry, I went back to my entry, dodged and burned each feather to be the right exposure, used NIK sharpen, then Topaz De noise. How's this? |

Larry, thank you for your evaluation. I heard that Topaxz De-noise-AI is good. I purchased it and used it. How is this after de noising it? |

Tab, You captured a great sunset here. I appreciate your work to bring out the rich color of beach, water, surf, rocks. It seems that the clouds and sky are hazy. I used Photoshop>Filter>Camera RAW filter> increased the dehaze 12%, increased the clarity 5%. Then I noticed a blue smudge on the top at the arm of the center cloud and used the healing spot tool to remove it. You may want to have your sensor cleaned.
Let me know your thoughts on the sky and clouds now.

Thorro, well done on a stark white subject that is difficult to capture in detail. Your exposure shows the definition of the feathers. I like the separation from the background.
You might want to try cropping 20% off of the left side and a bit from the top. The branch and its reflection point to the right - where the Great Egret is looking. The white of the Egret and reflection keep the interest balanced. The ripples on the water help define the environment. Well done. |

Steve, we are so fortunate to have you sharing photos of birds and wildlife native to the Middle East. I have never heard of a white-spectacled Bulbul. Your image is spot on for focus and exposure and post-processing. I think you've done the best you could for this mid-afternoon bath. The selection of your crop is good because the rocks anchor it in the foreground. One suggestion is to try for other photos of flapping wings, shaking off water, golden light of sunset.
You caught the droplets of water coming off the wet Bulbul. Well done. Thank you for sharing a unique moment in your part of the world. Jim |
