Steve, you have an exceptional photo here. The sharp detail everywhere on the male warbler shows how puffed up every feather is in the mating display. Thank you for including the original which shows the unique nest construction. Because this weaver is native to the northern Afro-tropics and Middle East, I have never seen a Ruppell's Weaver and no chance of seeing this mating display. Thank you for sharing this with us. Jim |

Tab, This brings back childhood memories when I visited Sturbridge Village. I like what you did with managing the light and composition. I am thinking that your print might look like a Norman Rockwell (but that would be a photo taken in Stockbridge, Mass.) There is a filter called grunge which would be good for a blacksmith's forge.
As for your noise, I suggest that you put your image in Photoshop and select Filter>Noise>Despeckle. I like what it does. Let me know what you think. Jim |

Laura, I love the prime colors, the textures, the sharp details - no shadows, no highlights - just a great presentation. Jim |

Sam, I like what you have done with the sad boy. Looking a the photo as you have it, my attention is drawn to the rain and the light, rather than ending up on the sadness of the boy.
I took both images and flipped the rainy day. I left it in color and gave some room behind the boy so he "stands out" more. The boy seems to be interacting with the stream of water droplets running out of the gutter Let me know what you think. Jim |

Thorro, You have a great image of what you saw and how you saw it. Is this at the Twin Arches? I was there in September 2018. The focus and composition are good. You managed everything you had control over. It's a desert so cloudless skies are expected. I like the way you managed the color and sharpening. Jim |

Thorro, I left the sharp shadowed edges of the bottom rocks to give it more of a foreground. Jim |

Thorro, thank you for your critical review. I was testing my new camera and lens. The Sony A7Riv is a 61 megapixel camera and I used a 200-600mm lens with a 1.4 teleconverter. I was standing too close to the rocks in this photo.
The original RAW is 117MB - huge. It doesn't do well reducing it to 72 dpi resolution.
I have another photo which I think is sharper at a resoultion of 100 dpi. Check this one out. |
