Laura, in Photoshop I used the magic lasso on the barn, adjusted brightness and contrast on the barn. The second photo adjustment was color replacement on the foreground bushes for sunrise tones. Let me know what you think. |

Laura, your best work is at sunrise, and I admire your commitment to be there at the best moment to capture the day's first light. Awesome. I like the proportions of sky and foreground. I would like to see the original for comparison, yes, brightening the grasses in the foreground is a good idea, but the color for the luminosity mask might be better if it were closer to a sunrise in the early morning. Sam, This is a wonderful improvement. Your similarity of dazzling outlines on ballerinas and swans in ideal, joining the ballerinas into the angles of the swans necks to the angles of the ballerina's legs. Ballerinas and swans appear to be similar substance and same treatment of light. This ties you elements together. Dr. Jim |

Donna, you got an amazing photo, very sharp and detailed. I like the way you cropped the image to include the long legs. I find the black background left of the tree very distracting. I cropped it tighter, taking some off the left and the top. Let me know what you think. I think that this is a little blue heron, immature transitioning into the mature feathers and keeping the 2:3 ratio (4 x 6). Dr. Jim |

Sue, we are all thinking of you overcoming the brushfires and now Covid-19. The smoke is clear in the background. I used Photoshop Camera RAW to lessen the dehaze on your original photo. Then I took the magic lasso in a new adjustment layer to correct the sheep and add some contrast. Let me know if this helps the effect you wanted to convey. Dr. JIm |
