24 Dec 19 Comment Jim, this photo is the action. The action is everything that's happening around the center. I hope you are having a wonderful time in Europe and look forward to your photos of where you go and what you do in 2020. Dr. Jim Dec 11th
24 Dec 19 Comment Laura, you are evolving and getting better each month. I admire how you wait for the ideal moment to snap the shutter, only to be amazed with what you do in post-processing. Your landscapes in previous years are salon level and you are taking those skills to new venues. I look forward to seeing your improvements and challenges in 2020. Dr. Jim Dec 11th
24 Dec 19 Comment Sam, I am so pleased to have you in DD#24 this year. I have seen fresh perspectives, originality and like the way you surprise us with new locations and points of view. I look forward to what you discover in 2020. Dr. Jim Dec 11th
24 Dec 19 Comment Kumar, thank you for sharing photos from parts of the world I have not seen or known. I am looking forward to what you bring to DD#24 next year. Dr. Jim Dec 11th
24 Dec 19 Comment Sue, your photos are unique in many ways. Thank you for joining DD#24 this year. I've enjoyed your high-key photography, the dynamic fire, and now this B&W.
I look forward to what you bring us from "down-under" next year. Dr. Jim

24 Dec 19 Comment Donna, yes, this reworked photo is much better.
You've improved in many ways this year. I look forward to what you bring next year.
It's great that your image will be on the psadigital.org home page showcase starting December 15.

24 Dec 19 Comment Donna, your cropped photo and original are updated. Dr. Jim Dec 10th
24 Dec 19 Reply Got it! Corrected. Well done Sam. Dr. Jim Dec 6th
24 Dec 19 Comment Jim - great action shot. I like the rich sunset, dusty colors and dirt flying. Fixing the aperture at f/8 was the best decision to get the depth of field on the action. Cropping it to a square keeps the attention on that action.
Well done. Dr. Jim

24 Dec 19 Comment Laura, you got it right. The exposure is ideal and I like the faint lighting of the foreground so it doesn't seem to float in space. I'm sure that the photo is properly cropped and framed well - because that's how you sent it. However, on this black page on Group #24, the sides and top are not distinguishable.
I suggest that for this webpage and for PSA and club PID (projected image digital) exhibits or competitions that have black screens you add a white border of 2 or 3 pixels to frame it. This way the cropping you did on the right side makes sense. (on this webpage it looks cut off).
I hope this idea helps - especially for competitions and exhibitions. I did this here - but you have to click on it to enlarge it onto the black background to get the effect. Dr. Jim

24 Dec 19 Comment Sam, this is inspiring and mystical. I like what you have done to capture all this splendid architecture in a very uplifting photo. I notice how the perspective of the first step is not level and makes it look like a big step to climb the stairs. In Photoshop transform I lowered the right side of the step to make it level. It seems more natural to take the first step. Let me know what you think. Dr. Jim Dec 5th
24 Dec 19 Comment Kumar, Thank you for sharing the background story of why this palace is so important. I like the rich landscaping and the warm colors of the stones. The sky is rich in texture and colors. I did notice the bird flying in the far left. It's not that noticeable, but if we can't tell what kind of bird it is, I suggest that you remove it. Nicely done. Dr. Jim Dec 5th
24 Dec 19 Comment Donna, I like how you caught this bison story, what they do day in and day out. The green grass and clumps of dirt tell a lot about what this bison does.
The resolution on the horn is a little off, pixelated with a halo around both. Did you crop off more than 20%?

24 Dec 19 Comment Sue, you have brought out the best in this "experienced model" and I like the amount of catch-light you have in the eyes. Since the background is blown out you might consider removing the dark blotches that remain in the B&W. I used the Dodge tool in Photoshop. Let me know what you think. Dr. Jim Dec 5th
