39 Jan 20 Comment Dear all,
If you wish to see more pictures of the event, please go on FB with my name (Vincent Cochain), there are 3 albums about this Battle. This picture is in the album "2019_12_Foy_Notre_Dame". This village "Foy Notre-Dame" (maybe 80 inhabitants) is located next to Dinant, where the Germans were stopped in December 1944.
The other albums 2019_12_14_Hardigny_Neufmoulin & 2019_12_15_Hardigny also represent this Battle. (_15: is a reconstitution). There are people in tank uniform.
It was very impressive and really emotional to take this pictures, and it was only pictures...

39 Jan 20 Reply Thanks Larry for your comment. I remove the triangle (indication panel). For the thank it was not closer, it was quite "huge and impressive". Jan 10th
39 Jan 20 Comment Picture of another culture, another way of live, … so all the ingrédients to have a good and nice picture, which is the case here… Uniform, no shoes, nos smartphone, no … what a quite life… at my opinion of course.
I like the sepia tint. At first look I thought it was a picture with "noise" and "grain", and i was disturbed.
Even if i agree with your crop on the right, i would prefer a little more space on the left.

39 Jan 20 Comment I find original the format (quite crop) of the picture, it is different from the "classic" portrait with more space around the face.
Beautiful eyes. I agree with David for her right eye, and I would add that her left eye is a little bit too dark (my opinion).
For the clarity, I would suggest to try different intensities. That will depend on what you (and the lady) wish.

39 Jan 20 Comment My eyes were immediately caught by the star of the lighthouse. I like it very much.
The contrast is well done and the clouds are present and "soft". As it is a quite space, I prefer that than a heavy cloudy sky, even if it can be very beautiful.
The stones at the front are sharped and well structured. At my opinion, as it is a landscape (panorama), i would crop the image to 16/9 by removing the Bottom, to emphasize the panorama.

39 Jan 20 Comment Hello David, you begin 2020 with a "bleak" picture and our feelings. I can imagine it was very difficult time.
At my opinion this is "more" a personal picture which meant a lot for you. The look between the lady and AB is powerful, strong & intense.
The light came from the back and the face of the lady and AB are in the shadow. I think it was not the main important element at this moment.
I agree with you for the hands in the color version. The crop in the B&W is, at my opinion, more strong as we are attracted by the "line" bewteen the eyes.
