Dear All,
I really thank you for all your comments & advices. I really appreciate.
I only worked with LR. I don't know PS. Shame on me...
For the rest of this year, I will no more participate at contests. Indeed I have enough acceptations to apply for the EPSA. So I would like to concentrate on PS to try to learn it and to be able to use it. So it will be also possible to understand your advices (...) and to apply them.
Thanks again.
Greetings from Belgium.

Special treatment to give an impression of (I suppose) an old picture in an old barn.
Tere are details in the straw, and the light in the tail is gret (event its movement).
We can see a part of an eye. Always nice...
Have you tried with a little more contrast? |

At first glance, I said I have already seen like a picture. I went in the history, and indeed Jerry, this is the "cousin" of your picture of May.
Thanks to share so beautifull pictures. I like all of them (origianl 2 is indeed more original, but it is a style, it changes.)
An old fence (from a corner), an old bran, trees and clouds give a good image. The sharpness is impressive and give an impression of sweetness, even of snow. |

Hello Arfan.
Thanks for this image and the story.
There is a huge difference between the original (just a picture) and the B&W (a marvellous picture). I would even say a "high level" image... Easy...
I see three parts in the image, the white cloud (main element), the snow (in the light) at the third of the right and the front ground.
The cloud is in balance with the mountain to the right.
Well done.

Hello David,
Please find some more information.
After the crop and the moise correction, I have the following parameters in LR:
Expo: +0,70
Contrast: +57
High light: -41
Shadow: +32
White: -56
Black: -26
After conversion in B&W, without changing the different colors.
I think I should change some parameters of the colors to try to blend, as Stephen mentioned it, the clothing with the background or just to improve the image. |

I am not a specialist of macro (not at all), but when it is beautiful, it is beautiful. B&W is quite rare (with my experience at my club).
The sharpness is impressive. I appreciate it very much.
I checked both images (original) and B&W. I think I see better the details in the color one (just personal opinion).
You apply one of the basic rules of photography, "always have a camera with you". |

I like such image. I took one like that (with less field, Belgium is smaller....) last year. I will submit it next month. The composition is interesting and complete for me (Fence, Trees, Clouds and Landscape). This is a pure B&W image. Difficult to explain why, but such image (elements in the composition) "has to be" in B&W. The structure of the sky (clouds) brings a lot of the image.
However, I find the left side a little bit "empty". |
