Thanks Georgianne. This was taken in Palm Desert, not far from I-10. I tried your suggested evening colors and appropriate sky. I like it. |

Good point! Definitely wouldn't want to do a flip for a travelogue or other reality based purpose. |

I sometimes remember to check out the flipped image, butI failed to do that here. I do agree, that works better. Thanks! |

I believe the period at the end of the link needs to be removed. Hope that works. |

I like your ideas and think your changes are indeed an improvement; they help emphasize the oasis palms. Thanks Denise!

Connie - You have created a lovely holiday scene in your new home. I think this photo would make for a lovely greeting card. I did try adding a bit more warmth (via a saturation adj layer and a warming photo filter adj layer). I also digitally brightened the top of the doll ( a flashlight would work in real life). In my opinion, the blue ball at the top and the red one at the bottom and the reflection on the right top could all be toned down since they are at the photo edges.

Lovely sentiment Georgianne; I am definitely taking it to heart. And thanks for the detailed write-up on how you did it.
In my opinion, this combination was a big ask (and beyond my skills I think) because of the bright light on the deer and the resulting strong dark shadows in the original photo. I note you removed the shadows on the ground, but that still left the one on the right deer's neck. As for snow, the sand dunes were a good idea, but the ridges make it seem almost like the deer are standing on a map of some sort.
I like the way you arranged the text, though in my opinion a golden fawn color might make it all more harmonious.

Linda, that would surely have been special to be there that morning…
I love the colors and the HDR looks quite natural and therefore well done. A few thoughts that in my opinion might improve the image -- they are all focused on drawing the eye into the sunrise. So, a bit of cropping (sometimes centering the best part of the photo works well), desaturating the greens, and darkening the leaves in the foreground and the bark of the fallen tree, adding a vignette and a bit more fog (I tried Nik's fog filter #2 at 13%). In the end, I also added just a tad more saturation to the sun. Here's a version to consider.

Denise, this is a striking, colorful and vibrant photo with great depth of field. I think the black water really brings out the flower detail and color, though I understand your wanting to experiment with adding some interest into that empty space. I personally prefer the original, though I would crop some from the top, add a narrow stroke, and see if it works to smooth out a few of the flower's folds at the bottom.
You asked about signatures. As you note, they can be distracting so the question comes down to why do you want to add one? Here's an article that discusses the pros and cons of watermarks. https://www.lightroompresets.com/blogs/pretty-presets-blog/8240641-should-i-watermark-my-images. If you do want a signature, I would consider one that is less distracting, so maybe at an even lower opacity and colored either in the green or the purple of the image.

An interesting photo and who woudda guessed... The foreground looks a bit soft? As for suggestions, probably depends on the intended use, but maybe adjust both the brightness and darkness at the edges a little. |
