Karen, Congrats BIG time on the Gold Medal-I'm so pleased for you. I've got some silvers, but have never achieved a gold.
I like your photo -the positioning of the model, the pose and the lighting. Things I'd change if this were my image - clone away the frayed couch edge, make sure one can see both her eyes (here I did a bit of cloning), dim and warm the light, since it pulls away from the sybject and the mood. Here's a quick mock-up. |

This is a neat idea, Mary. I love the flour in the book effect, the composition and the lighting, and especially the extra subject in the background.
When I look at your image, I think the special part is the book, rather than his face. So I would change the emphasis by desaturating his face a bit, and lightening the book area. I also tried a bluer tone for his face and the backgd. I can imagine a somewhat scarier expression in the backgd subject, or maybe a copy of the exploding book instead… |

Georgianne , a wonderful photo taken from a great perspective and done up well. I love the new sky and the bright autumn colors. A couple of thoughts that in my opinion might make this better -- fix the key-stoning a bit (edit/transform/ distort); take some of the saturation out of the blue water /stones, and get that foreground more gold and orange, either with some cloned leaves or a color wash. Since my eye wants to come to rest on the waterwheel, maybe oomph it up a bit? |

Flowers are such fun to photograph and to play with. I like your title, and the dark black background. Your puppet transform to make the shape more pleasing and symmetrical worked well. I've never tried the trace contour filter, but in my opinion, this doesn't quite work on this photo, since it feels harsh and jagged against the soft rose petals. I tried the PS oil paint filter on your final image to make it bumpy all over. What do you think?
