Connie, I'd be interested in seeing another version, once you feel you're ready. I often find that putting an image "away" for a few days gives me a new perspective. |

Indeed, Georgianne, it is the differing opinions that I view as one of the purposes of our group. Although some particular input may or may not resonate with me, it provides me with an opportunity to look at my work from another's perspective, and thus helps me consider ideas and suggestions that I might otherwise not entertain. |

(somehow this failed to get posted -- probably operator error) The rest of my comment...
For me, the bright part of the texture is a little to strong / bright for this image, since it pulls my eye away from the flower. Maybe if that brightness were behind the flower? Also, the curves just above the flower on the right could be toned down some more, since they don't add to the image. Finally, if you want to use this as a competition image, you might want to continue to refine the flower selection; there are a few places that could be cleaned up.

Mary, what a wonderful image! I think you have done a great job, converting a rather mundane photo into something full of interest and wonder. I think the B&W conversion is a definite plus, and I like that feeling of looking up into those tall, foggy, hazy buildings.
One thing I keep resdiscovering is: fix the photo before you start processing. In your image, I find the lamp p1ole at the bottom left corner distracting, so maybe some content-aware fill in the original. Also, in the final image, I would lower the highlights/brightness in that corner, so eye is not drawn there.

What an interesting structure to come accross. Your final image, with the music on top, made it clearly into organ pipes. I really like the colors you chose , though I feel some small areas are a bit too colorful and pull my eye away from the overall image. It's hard for me to decide where you want my eye to rest; I might have picked the star of the remaining light, but the detail is not strong enough at the moment. I like the angle you chose for the sheet music. I wonder how it would work at a lower opacity. |

Welcome to the group! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
I definitely agree with you - the arc of row boats is really attractive and eye-catching. You did a great job with that capture -good angle and DOF. Your processing, which added excellent color and a lot of "wow" to the image works well.
I find the white egret in the boat distracting and would clone him away. Also the blue of the sky seems inconsistent with the browns of the water, so maybe lighten it a bit or adjust the color? |

Such excellent detail in the flower including some water droplets. Good work in-camera to achieve this. It's always a challenge to balance sharpness and DOF in the subject, while aiming for lack of detail in the background. You did a good job of cutting out the flowers (and brightening the shadow bits) working the image so as to minimize the distractions. I like your texture with its brush strokes. Were you thinking the white part was a little like the sun in the background?

This image is full of detail, so much so I feel it needs to be simplified. To me, it seems that both the left and the right side of the processed image could each stand alone. The lamps in a row with the little one on the left side are cool, and the moss-covered big tree is special.
Alternatively, if the original image had an emphasis on the lights (perhaps as if they were lit?) and a darkening of the bright sky bits, this might be another path to pursue. |
