It is a very dark swamp with very little light making it through the trees. I didn't try to brighten it up because I thought the gloomy atmosphere was part of the whole experience. The reason they selected a swamp to start the Louisiana Purchase survey is a bit of a fluke - it is where the vertical and horizontal lines intersected. |

I'm not sure what you mean by breaking the rules, but it is a very nice leading line image. The lighting is great and adds so much dimension to the truck as well as the overall mood of the image. |

That is really an amazing photo and quite beautiful. I think it is interesting that between two veins there is secondary vein structure that appears to go in the opposite direction. Great composition from your cropping. |

I like the feeling that the leading lines give that you are walking up a hill and have a long way to go. The person on the walkway adds a nice additional detail. |

Looks like a leading line to me. The snow edge leads your eye right down the street to the right so you can see all the traffic coming. Looks awfully cold. |
