The initial impact for me is thinking, "damn, I'm glad I don't work at a carwash". At least where I live, that is a very hot and sweaty job. I think you've done a good job of capturing the tedious nature of such work and the story to me is that as soon as the car drives away, it will start to be dirty again. Truly a job that would fit Sisyphus. I feel that from a technical standpoint there are a few issues that arise from the photo being taken in a dark room: color noise is evident on skin and clothes and I would suggest trying to remove it. Also I feel that the exposure was thrown off by the bright license plate and windows, driving too much of the image to be dark. I would suggest trying to change positions and not shoot into windows. |

I think this is a great composition showing a mechanized harvest. I love the balance of colors with a nice blue sky, yellow field, red tractor and green trees. I find it to be technically very strong with everything in focus and good exposure. I love the small cloud that almost seems to be attached to the antennae of the tractor - almost like a thought balloon in a cartoon. As far as the story goes, I find myself wishing I could drive this thing. |

I especially like the point of view that creates some very interesting angles in the composition. I find the captured colors to be both simple but also more satisfying than what I have seen in a grain silo. Beyond the colors, I also like the way the white covering of part of the structure is contrasted nicely by the dark shadows on the undersides of the structure - it is almost a B&W image inside of a color one. |

In my opinion this is one of the best images that has been submitted to our group since I joined. For me the initial impact is strong as I almost feel like I need to jump away from the flying sparks. I love the composition with the craftsman positioned in the middle with sprays of sparks emanating from him and light beams surrounding him. The choice of a B&W treatment is perfect in my opinion for emphasizing the important elements of the composition. I find the story to be a bit of a scary one as I worry that he is about to be blinded by not wearing safety glasses - what is beautiful in this photo is also a source of danger. |
