Hi Palli, like what you have done with this image and the challenges presented by the location. You did a very good job in getting the post out of the image, it certainly would bring ones attention to it. The image is a little busy with the fence in the foreground but I thinks its adds to a sense of place and time. The texture and contrast of the brickwork brought my attention in, looking at the details. Wondering if darkening the brickwork and lightening the trees in the background would help deepen the sense of depth. |

Hi Gary, you combined my two loves in infrared: the grand vistas of the American SouthWest and clouds! I agree with some of the previous comments on the split between sky and ground: a little less sky would help balance the image. Antje's adjustments came across very nicely, specially around the mitten closer to the foreground. Her cropping on the left also worked. Love to go back!. By the way: in my only time to Monument Valley, I was greeted with no visible sky, clouds were so low that we could not see the top of the mittens. |

Hi Melanie, Cuba images always have a special place for me. The cables and posts give the original image a sense of time and place although for many of us, it is a little of a time machine and sadness when we realize it is the here and now. The two competing modes of transportation are excellent. Great work on the reworked image, cleaned it up very nicely; great detail work. One last item, really like how you treated the trees and the foliage. There was an item on the right side of the image in the tree foliage on your image that is not on the last reworked one, good job of editing it out. |

Hi Jack, this is the area of infrared photography I get a little lost in: foliage. Clouds in infrared are great and love the strong contrast of a cloud to a black sky. Adding texture and detail to the clouds is always a good thing. When it comes to foliage, sometimes the definition of the subject gets lost in the bright white. I very much like Jack's rendition of your image. What stands out to me is the strong leading line that takes you from the edges of the image to the building in the background. |

Antje, very good contrast between the ferns in the foreground and the larger trees in the background. Your eyes go to the front and wonder towards the back getting deeper into the woods. The contrast between the lighter foliage and the darker trees works very well. One compositional feedback is to tighten the framing of the ferns by cropping to the two trees on the right and left of the image and using them as framing anchors. I know very subjective on my part. Cheers! |

Apologies to all for not being very responsive. Several items have come up in March and April that have taken priority. Thanks to all for your input on the image, working on it some more to submit to competition, it is one of my few infrared images with foliage in it. |
