Thanks Tom - you have added to what Stephen and Jennifer have said and I appreciate it. I do not always get things right and leaving the spectator out............time to return the spectator to the rightful place. As for the lighting not being flattering, Stephen has got my rotten humor going. Too many times we try and go for the visually pleasing. My humor says 'let's go for challenging' (for want of a polite way of wording myself) |

Stephen - thanks....you have got my rotten sense of humor working. It would be a really fun way of creating portraits for an exhibition of the macabre. I love it!
Lynne - you are correct about the sharpness of the print. This was my main concern. I do see what you mean about the softness of the color version. Pending the idea that Stephen has popped into my mind, I would look into which looks better for an exhibition - color or mono. Certainly either way is worth considering.
Jennifer - thanks for relating your experience. It is a huge relief that it was not just me that suffers too much digital noise in such situations and I must get hold of a de-noise filter just as you did. Thanks for putting that on my shopping list.
Stephen and Jennifer. I removed the viewer to concentrate on the judge - however, the fact that you both think better WITH the viewer is making me rethink.
Dianna - the reason for me going for such images - even if they seem odd - has been hit on by Stephen and Jennifer.....I like to capture a story. Each of my solo exhibitions are themed and therefore each image I feel should be in context of the theme - both as individual images and as part of the whole.
Jose Luis - you are correct that it is not a competition image. I have found that competition and exhibition photography are two different ball games. Although I have the theme (dogs) sorted for my next solo exhibition which goes up at the end of this month and will be up for the whole month of June in London, I am already thinking of the 'what next'.
This is why I really do appreciate all the remarks made here on this image. It is getting that thought-box of mine heading in the right direction. Thanks to all of you for your comments - you have been wonderful! |
