Thank you for all your comments. The background mountains looked crunchy to me as well, so I went back to the original, unedited images - and they also look crunchy. I'm attaching one so that you can see for yourselves.
Perhaps a mask could be used to apply Gaussian blur just on the mountains? |

Dramatic and moody - good choices on the monotone. I don't have suggestions to make. |

I agree that the crop really makes the image. I also agree that sharp focus wouldn't make a difference.
Nigel's comment brings to mind my personal mantra on removing objects in images: "When in doubt, take it out."
Beautiful, calm image, Mike. |

I'll just agree with Nigel and add that I love the way the sun is shining through the ice. |

I really like the composition, the timing of the shutter, and your choice of an HDR panorama. My compliments on finding this spot to create your composition - it doesn't look like the easiest spot to reach. The red reflection in the water is perfect.
For me, the deep blue complements the drama in the sky. There is a small dark spot along the bottom of the frame and to the left of the rocks that I find slightly distracting. |

Thank you, Nigel.
It was shot from an observation deck, where I also used a telephoto to zoom in on individual falls. The only other way to photograph them would be from the water because there are no trails down. |
