Nicely done! It's subtle but better. |

Thank you, John. I'm currently trying to learn compositing and scaling, so I'm trying it out everywhere possible. |

The mountains and the ship in the submitted image were slightly enlarged with the liquify function in Photoshop. I'm attaching the first image in the series straight out of camera except for lens corrections. |

Amazing phenomena! I think it's a well-composed, sharp image. To my eye, the monochrome conversion also does a good job of minimizing all the minor distractions in the bottom of the frame and the road as a leading line gives the image a lot of depth.
You might try adding more contrast to the clouds to make them more dramatic.
Good job! |

The only thing I prefer in the monochrome version is that the big yellow equipment out front that distracts me is not as noticeable. It can be removed pretty easily in Lightroom too.
You might try the "full" option in Lightroom's Transform panel. It brings the left side of the frame a little forward. I also added three masks: (1) modified sky drama mask; (2) a brush with increased texture and contrast on just two buildings; and (3) a basic snap radial filter from the church tower to the wall. All that made only slight changes and may not be worth the effort.
Overall, I really like the image and want to congratulate you for getting such a good shot from a moving boat.

I love the way the light shapes the tree branches and it looks like Topaz enhanced that effect. I also like the contrast between the cold blues and vibrant yellow. You even managed to soften the fence so it isn't distracting.
All in all, I have no suggestions for ways to try to improve the image. For me, it has it all - impact from the dark and cold mood, great colors, good composition, and really nice processing. Love it! |
