To me this image symbolizes the spiritual journey as well as the physical journey from the dull, mundane of every day to the peace of the temple. Both the stairs and the vibrant colors lead my eyes upward to the center. I also notice both the ancient and the new along the way. It bothers me a little that the image seems just slightly off-center. However, what a lovely way to capture a memory. |

It's no surprise that I love Milky Way shots and I think this one is excellent. Getting the Milky Way and the moon in one image is no easy feat. I'm jealous! |

The vibrant colors of the vegetation and moss against the gray stones were the first to grab my attention. The diagonal lines of the slope and the rocks from bottom left to upper right were second because it's an unusual direction. I also notice that, intentionally or not, you've made good use of the rule of thirds with the purple/red plant that is the primary subject fall on the crash point on one side and the edges of the rock are roughly on the other third line. For me, the only distraction is the little bit of white amidst the orange and green plants. I like this image and can imagine it titled "Tenacity". |

Establishing a historical record of a place is, I think, one of the most important attributes of photography over other art forms and this is certainly an example of that. I think you've achieved a good balance between fluidity and power in the flow of the water which, to my eye, is nicely framed by the vegetation. I also like the way the composition and lighting brings my eyes into the center of the frame and the waterfalls. |

I really like this image. The composition is very geometric and I particularly like the use of negative space - how it leaves my eyes nowhere to land except on Shiprock. To me, the contrast between the blue of the sky and the land makes the image more dynamic. If I were to make any suggestions for changes to try (I'm not sure they'd be an improvement) they would be to increase the contrast just a wee bit and/or try to bring out a little more the rosy glow on the horizon. |

Thanks, John. My PS skills are not up to cloning out the dead tree, but here's where I've gotten to. |

Thanks, Marla. I was surprised how much I liked this photo. It was taken out of desperation for some kind of stars after driving for nearly 5 hours to get there. |

Thanks, Mike. I really like your edits. One little correction to your comments - this is the Washington coast, not Oregon. |
