Thanks, Trinda! We went there for Milky Way too, but you've gotta work with what you get.
The LED panels are what the Photog Adventures guys use too. Someday, after lens upgrades... |

I've never learned to composite. Combining exposures into an HDR doesn't seem to come out quite right either. |

Glad you like it, Marla. I like it enough that it's now my desktop image. |

Thank you, Nancie. I have to say that this image almost (not quite, but almost) made up for not getting to see any stars. |

For me, this is the "hero shot" that shows the sense of the place - a quiet and serene urban street with timeless brick architecture - and both the sign and the fire hydrant add to that. I also really like the spots of bright color.
Like Mike, I would add images of details to tell a more complete story of the place. |

This is a beautiful image that makes me want to linger on the details. I think the light on the sides of the rock formations and the front and top of the clouds nearly pinpoint the direction of the sun in a way that you seldom see in a photograph. The blue undertones in the shadows and what appears to me to be a touch of frost on the front rock formation give the image a hint of the cold temperatures. I also think you did a good job of bringing out the details in the shadows. I hope you're going to print this one! |

I think the timing was perfect for capturing the action of the wave breaking over the rock. I also like the contrast in color and texture between the rocks and the water and the detail in the rock. To me, the little rivulets on the rocks in the back emphasize the direction of the water from upper left to lower right. If I were to change anything, it would be to include the tips of the wave on the right.
Powerful image well captured - good job! |

Good job of keeping the phone steady, the biggest problem I have when trying to take photos with my phone.
For me, this image is all about the textures. The lines on the side of the mountain (ski runs? I'm not a skier) draw my eyes mountains in the back and the thick clouds on either side keep my attention there. I'm also glad you kept the blue sky instead of going monochromatic. |

The vibrant autumn hues contrast wonderfully with the blue sky. I also like the layers, from the bare road to the trees to the distant mountains. Cropping the sky while keeping the same proportions seems to me to make the road stand out more. What do you think? |

I slept in the van on the way there and stayed up until after sunrise (then slept some more in the van while DH found us a camping spot). |
