I would really like to know because I've been thinking of trying to purchase some kind of battery-powered light for just this purpose.
Thanks for the reply. |

I think it works in monochrome but almost always prefer color (a personal bias). In this case, the colors are so vivid, I feel like stripping them away is a real disservice. (Maybe I should join your group to learn a better appreciation of monochrome?) |

Beautiful capture, Trinda, and a great job of light painting. May I ask what you used to create the light from the left? |

I think this is a beautiful, vivid scene. The slope of the mountains on the right and the shadows of the mountains in the water act as leading lines to bring the focus on the island. The background mountains look almost painted in and fade back to, again, bring the focus on the island. I really, really like this image as it is. |

Point-No-Point is undoubtedly the smallest (and shortest!) lighthouse I've ever seen with only two small rooms and the ladder to the light. The keeper's quarters next door is easily 4 times as large (of course, it used to be the post office too).
So, I haven't located any of the photos from the back that shows the entire thing. However, I can tell you that there is a large black cable dropping from the light turret and no view of the water. Still, you've inspired to go out there tomorrow and see what other angles I can get. |

After carefully re-reading and considering all the comments, the image was slightly cropped at top and bottom and some of the debris was cleaned up. I tried lightening the whites, lifting the exposure, and lifting the highlights and found that any of that changed the stormy mood of the image. Here's the edit. |

Thanks for the suggestions. This was a really quick edit and I clearly need to go back and redo it. That lighthouse is such a common sight (it's a mile away) that maybe I don't pay enough attention to it. |

Thanks, Mike - that really works! I'll go back and modify it along those lines. |

Great cityscape! At first it appeared that the right side of the frame might be a bit sharper, but when I looked at it more closely everything is clearly in pin-sharp focus left-to-right and front to back.
I don't use PS on the computer, much less the phone, so I'm no help at all there.
Great job! |

Wow! I was ready to say this was a perfect shot when Nancie's comment got me to look at it again. Could the banding (that I didn't notice) be an effect of that lens? The only way I can think of that might work to fix it would be the color noise reduction tool with more smoothing? Maybe someone else has a better idea.
Still, it's a glorious image and nearly perfect. Changing the position of the horizon would not be an improvement - you definitely made the right call. |

The blue of the sky does appear a tad unrealistic, but I've seen it look just like that and I love the way it contrasts with the vibrant greens. I'd like to see how it looks with a little more of the pink too.
However, you've done a good job of capturing those dramatic clouds and their shadows on the ground. With the tree as the anchor and the clouds as the focal point, the eye seems to be drawn right through the layers and textures of the mountains to the clouds. Lovely! (Have I mentioned that I'm a sucker for dramatic clouds?) |

I didn't get to see the image, but all those changes sound like good ones. To be honest, I didn't spend much time at all on this one before I posted it. Thanks for the input! |
