Lovely water lilies and I'm so jealous of all of you who live near Longwood !!! The colors are lovely!
I do think this image could be sharper. I'm not sure why it isn't, and I think Bob's comments are really valid. Maybe in-camera focus stacking? Sharpen with Topaz ? Also I wonder if you could reduce the water reflection by bringing down the highlights in Lightroom or whatever processing you use. |

Meredith, what a gorgeous bird ! You really captured him beautifully and he's looking right at you ! Stunning.
I know we're not supposed to use sky replacement for nature images, but just a tad of light clouds would really add to the image -- just sayin'. Always up to the photographer and depends on if you're competing or just making a nice picture for yourself or your friends !
I think your shutter speed and F stop really helped make a great shot ! Keep it up ! |

I love the detail in this image, and how close you got to the bloom. It's quite lovely. I do think that if you toned down the background, the eye would be even more drawn to look at the flower. Amazing that you did so well without a tripod, and I'm wondering if you had upped the ISO and shot at a faster shutter speed, your original might have been sharper. Nevertheless, it's in great focus !! |

I'm pretty sure I went left to right and followed the line of the mountain (Mt. Diablo, a landmark we love). Most ICM's are at low ISO (like 100 or less) and exposure time anywhere from 1/2 sec to 4-5 seconds. It really helps to have one of those adjustable polarizers - mine goes eight stops - but I wasn't using one this time.
I've taken three ICM classes. It isn't easy to master. |

Lodi is inland, in what we call the Central Valley of California, and every fall and winter we get lots of sandhill cranes and geese and tundra swans down there. It's about an hour south of where I live, in Northern Sacramento County.
By the time I got there, the sun was setting and it was too late to get the Cranes. MORE to come ! I hope to go there Tuesday.
Thank you for hopping on the bus and joining in !!

Hi Meredith,
I think I did pan from left to right and followed the curve of the mountain -- but with ICM, no two images are the same !
But I think you got it right. Thanks ! |

Mark, This is lovely. The colors are so lush. I love how the flowers frame the image and the reflections really add to the scene. I do agree with Doug, that cropping a bit from the top might put more emphasis on the building and reflections.
Well done !!
