Thank you, Meredith. I have tried to drop the highlights on her face but not successfully. I'll work on it a bit more. I do think she was wearing the type of makeup that causes a "glow" on the face -- she was really quite gorgeous. |

Hi Meredith, I think it's really lovely. The colors of the water are soft and smooth. The only thing I notice is that the water toward the picture's bottom is lighter in color -- So I might do an Adjustment Layer to make it match the other water, or I might crop the bottom, or I might have stepped back to let us see the water's edge.
On the other hand, it's lovely. I'd love to know what time of day you took it -- dawn, dusk, mid-day? |

Well, Doug, I LOVE the texture and also the color of this image. Given that, without your explanation, I would not know that it is a leaf. It could even be a crumpled up paper bag.
I think it would be interesting to have an image like this in a series of abstracts.
I will say, though, that I agree with your wife. I think having the entire leaf against even a black background would have it be more interesting. |

HI Mark,
I love the colors and subject matter -- I've never had the nerve to get up early enough to fly in one of these or get up early enough in the morning to photograph them !
I do like the black and white background, it really makes the colors stand out. I'd love to see it completely in color, too. I like Meredith's idea of cropping a bit off the left side.
Well done ! |
