HI Meredith, I love these aloe plants and I think they are really hard to photograph. There's a lot to look at in this image. I love the water droplets. The spines on the leaves are amazing. I think if you'd had a diffuser to soften the bright sunlight, that would have helped, as the light and shade distract from what you wanted us to look at/focus on. If you're going to shoot more of these (I hope you do!) maybe try a macro lens and get in much closer. You could try a higher F-stop and get more in focus, that would be great. Looking forward to seeing more of these. I have tried and failed. ...... :) |

The problem is, Rich, that when you point your camera down, you will get distortion - as you have here where the lines are not parallel from top to bottom. (See Doug's comments.) You can correct that in Lightroom or even in Photoshop or Topaz. That would help here. Also I ask the same question as Meredith, what did you want the viewer to find interesting? It's hard to tell. You've chopped off some plants at the bottom, they could be cropped out entirely, I think. I would look for a more compelling subject, or play with filters on this one to make it more interesting. |

I like the milkiness of the water. That's what I was aiming for. I guess that's my artistic license, right? Thanks for your comments, much appreciated ! D |

I like this image a lot. The colors are lovely and the focus is great. I would clone out the schmutzig at the bottom (is that a word) where the stem is. Very pretty !! |
