OK, I think I need to rework this one. It was an experiment as I haven't done much black and white so I'll keep working on it.
Thanks ! |

Oh, I actually like this one much better !! I would leave a little more at the bottom, but I do prefer the horizontal. Thanks for trying that out ! |

It's so strange what we notice !! I did not notice that dark spot at the right top of the wave until you pointed it out, now it bothers me, too. So funny how we see/don't see. Thanks for pointing that out. I need to be more observant. |

Yes, I agree, the stem needs to show more. I'll go back to my Lightroom and see what I can do !!

Well, I'll try that. I've been trying to get tulips in black and white similar to a local photographer, and it is so difficult !! Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't do much Travel in my camera club, either, because I don't think I'm very good at it.
I do like the looks on the faces of both men, it makes me wonder what they were thinking.
And definitely your exposure, composition and so on were very good. I'd like to know if they were standing or sitting -- I can't tell.

Without your story about this picture, I would think, OK, two guys at a beach. It would be nice to see a little more of the background, something that would tell us the story without you having to tell us what it is. Does that make sense? In my Travel division at my camera club, they want the image to tell a story, illustrate the essence of the area. The guy on the left looks serious, which is good, because he's a lifeguard. The one on the right is "posing" and takes away from the impact of the two guys. I hope some of this makes sense, I don't want to tear your image down..... but I think it lacks impact. |

Really pretty colors, as you said, Mother Nature at her best. I wish this was a horizontal for some reason. Maybe showing a bit more of the horizon. I would crop some off the top and the bottom, as your main subject really is the sunrise, I think. But LOVELY. |

I keep staring at this, it has such an ethereal quality about it. Pretty colors and wispy looking.
I don't have the velvet Lensbaby, trying not to spend money !!
I don't know what Nik Vivesa is. But I think your image is quite pretty. I can't tell if we're looking at the back of the flowers or the fronts. I'm longing to see just a little more space of green around the flower, even though it looks like you added a little at the top. I say, keep on experimenting with that Lens Baby. Nice !! |
