OMG, I used to swim in Lake Michigan when I was a little girl. We lived in Park Ridge, IL for two years and would go there to cool off in the summer. I went to summer camp in Wisconsin and so did my brother. I loved it there.
These waves were huge, and the beach at this part of the Pacific drops off very quickly, so the waves really get large when tide is coming in. We got there on the perfect day.

Well.... the beach is curved, and if I straightened out the horizon I don't think it would be an accurate picture. From where I was standing, and the way the beach is curved, then Yes, the waves might be "fading" to my left. But that's Mother Nature. |

OK. This picture could have been taken right here in Sacramento. It doesn't show anything about Naples. So I would change the name of the picture. It's really not a "travel" image.
That said, it's a fun image and your panning was good -- he probably was going pretty fast. I do agree with Mark that you could increase contrast and I think the exposure is so bright that the background is really distracting. I would crop the top, and even make it into a panorama. I played around with it and came up with this. |

I can get so frustrated at car shows with the people -- if they would just move out of the way, but that's what happens.
This is a really interesting angle, and I like it better when I can see the image in my photo viewer because there's more space around it. I'm not sure I like the angle - with it so tight and the hood ornament right in the middle. I'd love to see other angles you took. But you did a great job of post-processing, sounds like it was a lot of work. Very pretty color. |

I think it's really nicely done, especially the background -- how did you add a Georgia O'Keeffe look? Is that a filter? If so, I'd love to have it. I'd love to know how you got the background flowers to be in soft focus, given that you shot the picture at F8.
I'd like to see a little more of the stem, so the flower doesn't look like it's floating in space. Very nice !! |

I'm not sure what adjustments you made in Lightroom, but I think what's missing for me in this image is brightness, contrast, vibrance and some saturation. It just looks dull. Maybe it was a rainy, cloudy day, but you can still make the image look more interesting by playing around with the sliders and just make it more colorful. Also, I would have like to see more room in the sky above the "mountains", as they are pretty much chopped off at the top. I might have cropped off some of the bottom or added more of it, but the way it's cropped at the bottom draws my attention there. Norway looks lovely, though ! |
