I broke my lens on the second day of a two week trip. So my cell phone had to do .
I'm usually not a good Travel photographer but this one turned out well. I'll try to lighten the shadow areas or vignette it a bit.

What a great catch !! I love it. Is the man tired, upset, frustrated, no one knows. If you had not said that he was the sculptor I would have thought he was just a guy on the beach who sat down next to her. Either way, it brought a smile to my face and I think it's just a great shot. You caught the textures of his skin and the mermaid really well. Thanks ! |

Carrie, I think it's beautiful. The shadows don't bother me. I like the background. I don't care for the huge leaf under the lotus but other than that, it's lovely.
Do you have a large diffuser? You might carry one with you and put it between your subject and the sun, it will prevent the shadows you're concerned about. I have one that I use a lot for flower shots.
But in any case, it's lovely.
And thank you for messaging me about the images that you and one other person sent me, which were mysteriously in my junk folder this month. I had no idea that happened !

Rich, I would love to see this with the coast line straight ,
it's just too off-balance for me. Also the image is not in focus. I see you took it at 1.6 seconds, which would mean any movement of your camera on the monopod, or any movement of the boat I think you were on, would put your subject out of focus.
I had no idea Gibralter had so many buildings etc., I just pictured a big rock. Thank you for enlightening me ! |

Doug, this is just GORGEOUS ! I prefer the first shot over the one with the lens baby.
I've never heard of this kind of flower and would love to see more ! The exposure, the detail, the colors, just all are beautiful and congratulations, I love it !
On the lens baby image, I would like to see a bit more in focus, it's too out of focus for me. |

I think this is lovely also. I'd love to see the pinkish colors a little more, which would happen if you increased saturation. But it's a very peaceful image. I might crop a little off the top so the moon isn't right in the middle.
