Thank you, Diana ! I will order some, although I fear the Sacramento heat in late summer may be too harsh for them.
But I'll give them a try ! |

I think it's too tight; I prefer my crop.
Thanks for the idea, though !

Thanks, Diana. I was panning with the birds at a high shutter speed. |

Diana, I never see Dahlias in the flower shops. Can you tell me what time of year I might see them? I love your shots of the Dahlias, would like to experiment on them myself, but never see them ! |

Thanks, Rich. I didn't care about the sky, either, but you never know what others will think ! |

I think it's really pretty, although too much sky on top, I would remove a bit.
Also given that the sky indicates there probably was sunlight, I would lighten up the pier a bit - the legs, if that's what they're called, to brighten up the image. Maybe take a little off the left side, too, see what might happen.
Nice image !
Just for fun, I played around with it, here's what came up. It's grainy because your image was so small, but maybe you can see what I was aiming at. (or not)

You took this with a cell phone? I'm going to have to switch to iPhone next time. I think it's really beautiful. I love the swirling lines and the texture in the petals. Lovely. |

Poor fellow looks tired, doesn't he? I think it's a nice image anyway, and I would love to see the ground around him darkened a bit, I keep looking at it (it's brighter than he is in places) but other than that, nice shot. |

I like the image, especially the sign that says "No soliciting" etc. Adds humor for sure.
I'm curious to know what the colors were like on the rocks; were the colors red and vibrant, or sort of dull and uninteresting? If they were the latter, I think making it black and white was probably a good idea. You did a lot of work on the image, good job.
BTW I went to AFRICA and shot all my shots for 17 days on Medium format (new camera) -- that's a hard lesson to learn, isn't it? |
