4 Dec 18 Comment This is an abstract extravaganza! I love the different colors which are alluded to in some comments! The varying textures along with the missing brickwork here and there make the photo even more interesting to look at! Very interesting design! Nice creativity. Dec 18th
4 Dec 18 Reply Joseph, the one I displayed was an image of the general "area" that I was shooting even though it was blurred. The shot I presented was the "lower corner" of one of the successive shots with a slower shutter speed hand-held that I did a "motion blur" on wherein I physically slowly moved the camera one way or the other while the shutter was open creating the light trails. 4 Dec 18 Comment This is an interesting image and I think the central staircase has a nice design. I love how iPhones can take all these great photos that are as stunning as the dSLR photos that everybody takes. I actually have started to use my iPhone more than my dSLR because I've found the shots are much more "reliable" except when it comes to night time.

One thing is that I feel the picture is a bit overwhelming in its composition and there's a lot to look at. IMO a closer crop on the stairs would emphasize better some of the intricate architecture displayed in this photo (similar to what Guy said).

4 Dec 18 Comment I really admire this shot Bill because of the mixture of lines that are associated with it. The interplay of the shadows against the steps also forms an interesting design. I also like the Joseph crop too. Quite a visual treat! Dec 16th
4 Dec 18 Comment Magnificent post processing on this image Guy! From the brilliant colors to the interesting reflections in the water, this image sings to me! Look at all the waves that you can see under the bridge! The sky is well-done and the moon is brilliant which is wonderful as well! I absolutely adore this picture and adore even more the post that you did on it. Simply stunning! Dec 10th
4 Dec 18 Comment This is a magnificent portrait Ian. I love the noir nature of this photograph. As was stated by Isaac, the lighting on this image is incredibly well done! Another thing is the great expression that the subject has on their face which definitely is AWESOME....his expression matches the mood of this photo in my opinion. You should be very proud of this image!

I think I asked you about this somewhere else but I can't recall if you were able to tell me about the lighting setup on this photograph.

4 Dec 18 Reply I'm confused Isaac...are you trying to say that you didn't like the image then ? Dec 10th
4 Dec 18 Comment Interesting shot Erik! It's interesting that you presented this because I recently finished the book DESERT SOLITAIRE by Edward Abbey which is about a park ranger's observations while working at Arches National Park.

I appreciate the time that you took in capturing this shot. It's very fortuitous that the skies cooperated with you during the photo and I love the slight wisps of clouds that you can see throughout the blue sky. I feel that the path in the foreground helps lead the viewer's eye into the central composition and the mountain range in the back is a very majestic looking element of the photo also.

It really must have been an amazing sight to see this in person. I hope too someday go to this park and experience it myself.

74 Dec 18 Comment Nothing much to add except MAGNIFICIENT image! The clarity is simply startling! I also like how less distracting your black and white conversion is compared to the original. Dec 24th
74 Dec 18 Comment Look at that! A 12,800 ISO photo! If I put a photo like that up online, it would look terrible (even after I did extensive noise reduction)! I think it looks like a great street photo and I think Arne has it right with his crop that he mentioned. The couple looks to be the central part of the photo. I love the dark tonality of the portrait on the right as well! Nice work! Dec 16th
74 Dec 18 Comment I like this image because of the story it tells with the shoes sitting alone on a chair in the corner. The lines leading to the chair on the floor and the wall enhance the effect as well. I also love the dramatic shadows in this photo along with the detailed textures that can be seen throughout the image. Dec 10th
74 Dec 18 Comment I saw your request for recommendations about what makes a good B&W image. Recently I watched a video on YouTube (and there are thousands) but I found it to be a very interesting video which I feel can be adapted for use with other photo processing programs as well. It can be located at:

I will be doing your critique shortly.

74 Dec 18 Comment I like this shot because of its use of leading lines and the intricate lighted Christmas decorations you can see throughout the photo! At first glance, I thought the spheres in the upper right were water spots on the lens but then I realized that they were decorations! I like the tonality of the image overall but I might have tried to subdue the glare of that white light near the spheres. Dec 9th
74 Dec 18 Comment This is a very candid shot and it works well! It reminds me of a type of picture you might get with a Lensbaby type of lens because of the soft blurred nature of it. Great work on capturing this authentic moment between the two people!

I would like to know the lens you used and the settings that you captured this moment at if you would be so willing to share.
