Thanks everyone for the comments. Good advice oncropping the right or cloning out. Also appreciate the encouragement for this abstract subject.

This is a great image Alan. Excellent use of flash with no harsh shadows.
Larry's suggestions are good.
Congrats on a beautiful and talented granddaughter. I'm sure she brings much joy to you and your family. |

I like the nice sky, and get a good feeling from the open space.
I agree with Larry's comments about getting the horizon horizontal. I used lightroom just because that's my normal editing software but any will do. I also cropped out some of the sand to emphasis the sky and made LR adjustments as follows: Contrast +45, Highlights -60, Shadows +100, Whites +31. I have attached the result. This is just my personal taste it may not be to you liking Joanne. |

I really like the colors in this photo and there appear to be a nice bokeh behind the main subject. combined they give a very pleasing effect.
I agree with your comments about the wind. I have not been particularly successful in my macro attempts. It can be difficult just as you and Alan have commented. Also, like Alan, I have found using a longer lens for insects , spiders and the like is easier. My 105mm macro lens needs to be too close. |
